Press Release Body: 03 numbers, introduced by Ofcom as a non-geographic alternative to 0870 numbers, are now available from Numberstore. The 03 range offers consumers a single national point of contact with no additional charges for over and above a call made to a standard geographic number.
Frustrations voiced by 08 number providers include unreasonably high and unjustifiable call charges imposed by mobile operators and the failure of mobile networks to include calls to 08 numbers in customers' bundled minutes.
"Price transparency for calls to non-geographic numbers has been sadly (intentionally?) lacking, buried in the call plan fine print on the mobile operators' websites. Conversely, calls to 03 numbers will cost the same or less than calls to 01 and 02 (geographic) numbers and unlike any other non-geographic range, calls to 03 numbers must be included in bundled mobile packages or inclusive call schemes offered by fixed operators," said Zimo's CEO, Kieron James.
"This makes 03 numbers unique in the non-geographic number space. Even calls to freephone numbers are frequently billed by mobile operators and excluded from callers' allowances. Importantly, the 03 rules will apply not just to mobile operators, but to calls made from any line - including BT, other fixed line providers and from payphones," continued James.
In a press release towards the end of last year, Ofcom Chief Executive, Ed Richards said, "Consumers will be able to dial 03 and will be able to have confidence about the cost of their call."
Call revenue sharing - where the recipient of the call receives a share of the call charge - is also unequivocally disallowed on the 03 number range and numbers beginning 030 have been designated for the exclusive use of public bodies and non-profit organisations.
Numberstore is offering four 03 ranges with highly memorable blocks including:
* 0300 321 - available only to public sector and non profit organisations; * 0330 330 - available to any business or other organisation; * 0345 680 - a migration path for customers using Numberstore's 0845 680 range; * 0370 385 - a migration path for customers using Numberstore's 0870 385 range.
